All the classroom painting has been completed. Other projects big and little have been completed. There will still be projects for the Colorado team to start and finish after we leave on Sunday.

Sunday group 2 Pico Blanco hike

The Pico Blanco hike usually takes about 6 hours to complete. You need to grab onto tree root and waking up steps of rocks and roots. There is no path to get to the top. Matt showed the way to the top and a differnt route to get down. The hike usually 6 hours to complete. The top of the mountain is about 6,000 feet. A lot of 45 degree angle walking. The is a great view of the city of San Jose and a lunch at the top. It's hard going up and challenging coming down. You have to hold onto any branches that are near by when sliding down the muddy ground.
These picture only show a small part of the 6 hour experience.

Sunday Volcano and Church tour

A group of the team went to the Volcano and the 3 churches.
The other group did the Pico Banco hike.

The Volcano is called Irazu

This is the church that we went on Sunday night.

This church is the National Basilica. You will see people shuffling on their knees in the center isle of the church to get to their seats. The church has a small black rock that Mary appeared to an Indian girl. They call it the Black Mary rock.
They also sell holy water and we saw people sprinkling the water on their cars.
We pray that these people remember that Christ is the only way and not by works.

I'd like to be funny and say the 2nd church built by the Spaniards. 1564

First Church built in Costa Rica by the Spaniards.
